Hello beautiful! I like to think about how exciting it is for you to be fully dressed as a woman. For those of you that want to immerse yourself into being a woman, fully. You know, being a woman involves more than just clothes. I want you to close your eyes and think of getting dressed up for me. You are getting dressed for a night on the town.

It takes more than just clothes to make you a woman.

Think about all the things that you need to do to get ready for this exciting girl’s night out. What kind of clothes are you going to wear? Jewelry? Makeup. How about perfume? As you know being a woman involves, make-up, shoes, skincare, hair, nails and last but not least, how you smell. You don’t want to go through all the pains of looking like a beautiful woman and not smell like one. Nobody wants to see you dressed up and smelling like an icky man. Right? So for today’s, blog post I wrote a very informative piece all about Perfume. I include all kinds of pertinent information on the subject.

Perfume is an important part of being feminine

Perfume is important to many women. Finding your signature scent can be a bit intimidating. I don’t want this to deter you, sissy. This doesn’t have to be the case. What do I mean when I say signature scent? A signature scent is a scent that reminds people of you. When someone wears the same perfume people associate that scent to them.

Some will think happy thoughts and others perhaps not so much but they will associate that scent to you. How others think of you– depends on your disposition. If you are a kind and fun Sissy people will have good associations with that very same scent– if you are a twatwaffle, well… need I say more?

There is something very girlie about perfume. I want you to take your time finding your signature scent. This is not something to be rushed. That is why I am writing about this now. Perhaps you will find your favorite perfume and get a bottle of it from Santa.

With the holidays quickly approaching. This is a great time of year to buy perfume because perfume companies categorically go all out, with all kinds of wonderful perfume sets. For an idea of what kind of perfume gift sets are for sale this 2019 holiday season– check out this article by Harpers Bazzar 20 Fragrance Sets to Gift This Season. This article mentions two of my favorite perfumes. I just love Viktor&Rolf FlowerBom and Jo Malone. (I am a big fan of her Grapefruit).

Things I have learned over the years while shopping for perfume.

1.)  Try only 3 different fragrances at a time when you go shopping for perfume.
2.) Don’t wear any perfume or scented body lotion. If you do this will interfere with smelling the other perfume you are sampling
3.) If you can go in the morning. This is an ideal time so you can try it and see how it changes over the day. The perfume will not smell the same on each person. Perfume is affected by our body chemistry and this can change through the day.
4.) The best places to try a new scent is in the crook of the inside of your elbow or wrist.
5.) You want to sample the scent somewhere you don’t frequently wash.

How to keep yourself from going nose blind while perfume shopping:

I say you should only try 3 fragrances at a time because you are giving your olfactory senses a real workout. You will go nose blind if you overdo it.

Sniff coffee in between smelling perfumes. Most perfume counters keep coffee grinds around for you to sniff. Sniffing coffee helps clear your palate like sorbet cleanse your palate between courses of a very fine meal.

By sniffing coffee grinds, this helps reset your nose to go on and continue smelling other scents. Concerning coffee beans.

Others in the industry will tell you just smell the inside of the crook of your arm that does not have any fragrance on it; because smelling the natural scent of your body’s ph will recalibrate your olfactory senses.

Experiment and see what works for you. I love the smell of coffee beans so I sniff them when they are available at the perfume counter.

After you have sniffed many scents. Pick one and spray it either on your wrist or inside your elbow. Wait 15 minutes before trying another scent on. How do you like the smell? If you like the smell take a pic of the bottle and ask for a sample. They might have something to give to you to try later at home. If they don’t at the very least spray one on the sample card they give you and carry that home to check out again later.

Wait to buy it and see how the scent evolves in a few hours. Your body chemistry will change the scent for the better or not. That is why I say, don’t rush into buying anything until you are certain that this fragrance is for you.

More than one signature scent

You are allowed to love more than one scent and this means you can have more than one signature scent. Scent affects our mood and our mood affects our scent. Wear what makes you feel good. How do you want to feel? Sexy? Flirty? Classy? Bossy? There are perfumes out there that when wearing them will help you feel this way. So consider these things when looking for your perfume.

When you go shopping for perfume, don’t be afraid to ask the salesperson for help. I suggest you start with the lighter fragrances first. I suggest this so they are not lost on heavier fragrances when you try them on.

If you are not sure, look at the perfume and read about it. Read the reviews. What are common praise and compliments about the perfume you are interested in? What are the common complaints? Now, don’t let reviews stop you, I never have and if I did, I would not have some of my favorite perfume.

Before you go shopping feel free to try out this fun quiz over at cosmopolitan what is your perfume personality quiz. Sephora also has a really good fragrance finder. Use these tools to help you figure out what kind of scent that you like to wear.

More tips for perfume shopping

Go perfume shopping with a friend. Ask a friend for advice. But don’t let them have the final word. But listen to what they say.

If you absolutely love something buy it. If you are not sure about something wait or buy a mini-size perfume and use it every day for at least a week.

How are you loving it? Now remember YOU might go nose blind to the scent after 20 minutes or so but how are others reacting to your scent? How do others like it when they smell it on you? Pay attention to how the scent evolves throughout the day.

Once you found something you love. Go ahead and splurge buy the gift set for yourself. Look at what other products they manufacture of your perfume, have to offer in that scent. Do they make a shower wash? A body lotion? Anything else in that scent? Perhaps a hair perfume? Buy it and layer your scent. This will help your scent last longer throughout the day.
